JoJo's Story

Why insure your pet? So many reasons but here’s Jo Jo’s experience. He’s a 7month old Chihuahua pup who likes to run away with the toddler’s dummy. One day he started being sick and was very dull and lethargic. His owners noticed one of the dummies were missing form the toddlers collection and they hoped that wasn’t what was causing Jo Jo’s symptoms….

He was rushed in as an emergency appointment and we found his tummy to be very tender and we could feel something rubbery in his guts. He was immediately taken to theatre, placed on a drip and anaesthetised and surgery was performed.

We found not one but TWO teats lodged in his very inflamed intestines, these were removed, everything stitched back together and then all we could do was wait and hope he made a fully and uneventful recovery. He had antibiotics, pain relief and then had to be transferred to Pets A & E (our dedicated out of hours provider) for intensive care overnight. He was discharged the following morning and hasn’t looked back. He has made a full recovery and needless to say dummies have been banned in his household! However, with a final bill of over £900, all this treatment might not have been possible if he hadn’t been covered by pet insurance. His owners were very relieved they had taken out the policy when we offered it at his first visit and so were we.
